Campbell, Inc. was started by Robert R. Campbell in 1973. Bob started in the heavy machinery repair business working for his father's (Wilson E. Campbell) company, Industrial Welding, Inc. Wilson learned the welding trade working in Detroit in the late 1920s and 30s. After becoming a highly skilled welder, he saw an increasing need for the repair of stamping and forging equipment. After traveling to Lansing on a regular basis to service the growing market there, Wilson decided to start his own machinery repair company.
