Honoring Michigan residents, past or present, who have made significant contributions to the state or nation, the Michigan Walk of Fame is downtown Lansing's newest attraction. Made up of 18" x 30" bronze plaques embedded in the sidewalk, each plaque displays information on the inductee's life and contribution. Plaques will be available for public viewing by Michigan Week in May 2006. Located in the heart of Lansing's commercial district the Michigan Walk of Fame is within walking distance of the Michigan State Capitol, the Michigan Library and Historical Center and a number of other museums and attractions. The Michigan Walk of Fame is the first Walk of Fame in the nation to honor the contributions of its residents on a statewide basis. Visitors are welcome to view the plaques at their leisure year-round.
