Welcome to the Home Page for the Eaton County Sheriff's Department.Eaton County is located just west of the greater Lansing, Michigan area. The County seat is Charlotte which is located in the center of Eaton County 20 miles southwest of Lansing. The Sheriff's Department is responsible for general law enforcement activities throughout the County and provides contract police services to Delta Township. There is a substation located in Delta Township. The Sheriff Department is organized into three main divisions.

The Portland Police Department operates out of the Emergency Services Building located at 773 E. Grand River Avenue. The department provides 24-hour service to the residents of the City of Portland. The Department is staffed with 6 full time officers and 5 part-time officers. Officers patrol the streets with cruisers, bicycles, and on foot. They also provide a presence in the area schools, community events, and on the River trail.

The Sheriff is an Officer of the court with responsibility for execution of orders, judgments and civil process as well as maintenance of security for the court. The Sheriff is responsible for the establishment, maintenance and operation of the County Jail and ancillary services.
