- Lansing Township Policeis celebrating 50 years of service to the citizens of the Township. On April 22, 1949, the Charter Township of Lansing voted to establish their own police department. The Township changed from a Constable form of policing to the hiring of two "traffic officers". The officers were deputized by the County Sheriff and were able to enforce both Township Ordinances and State Laws. The Police Department has grown from two officers driving a 1949 Ford Tutor, to 15 officers with 6 patrol cars. Township Police Officers continue to be deputized by the Ingham County Sheriff and provide 24 hour service, seven days a week.

- CLINTON COUNTYThe county was named after a former governor of New York, De Witt Clinton, who was responsible for organizing the building of the Erie Canal which significantly effected migration to Michigan in the mid 1800’s. The county was organized in 1839 with St. Johns becoming the county seat in 1854. Salt mining and agriculture were the main sources of economic support. Later, the county became noted for its peppermint and spearmint crop; in the 1930’s there were over 50 known mint stills around the St. Johns area.
