Why Grass Roots? We, at MGO, feel that the best form of activism is done at the grass roots level. The first three words in our country's constitution are "We the people". In that spirit, a group of volunteers from all firearm disciplines gathered together and put aside their differences to work toward the common goal of protecting and restoring the firearm rights of law-abiding citizens in Michigan. We firmly believe in the power of a grass roots movement. Join our common voice and together, we will work to secure the rights of sportsmen, target shooters, self defense advocates, collectors and firearm owners across the state of Michigan.

0 - EARLY PLANNING FOR GREAT LAKES LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
With the aid of a planning grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (awarded in May of 2004), the Michigan State University College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, including MSU Extension and the Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station, brought together a diverse group of stakeholders representing communities and the food system, agriculture, manufacturing, natural resource and environmental sectors of the economy. The result of this discussion is consensus on a program that will present leadership concepts in the context of current issues and bring together current leaders in government, non-profits, and industry to broaden their perspectives about key sustainability issues and consider how leadership for the common good can influence Michigan's future.

Numerous non-profit groups with 501(c) tax status are exploiting loose regulations and lax oversight to spend millions of dollars influencing elections while keeping secret the identities of their donors. The New Stealth PACs, a first-of-its-kind Web site and database created by Public Citizen, reveals that these groups spent at least $91 million to affect elections in 2000 and 2002, and shines a spotlight on these groups' activities in the current election cycle.
