0- Study for the Society of Midwestern Literature Since its beginning in 1971, the Society for the Study of Midwestern Literature, together with the Center for the Study of Midwestern Literature and Culture and the Midwestern Press, has encouraged interest in Midwestern literature and culture. SSML supports its members in pursuing those interests and in disseminating their results to the community at large and to students and scholars who may use that work as the foundation for further study, research, and appreciation. 0- Michigan Center for the Book What is the Center for the Book? The Michigan Center for the Book is a program of the Library of Michigan and its affiliates. It is also the Michigan affiliate of the National Center for the Book at the Library of Congress. The Center draws from the Library of Michigan and its affiliate institutions to encourage and produce programs and resources throughout the state that promote books, reading, authors and libraries.
