Kamal "The Diva" Larsuel-Ulbricht, Rose "Barns" Cooper and Cassandra "Cass" Henry--who live in Lansing, Michigan, New Orleans and Seattle respectively--transformed their successful Internet site into a catalog of almost 250 film reviews. As the subtitle indicates, these are movie reviews with tiara, further emphasizing that sistah girls are doing the critiquing. -- Sharon D. Johnson

7 - TAPE: A movie set in Lansing, Michigan
Starring Ethan Hawke, Hawke plays Vince, a drugged out deadbeat. He is the renter of the Lansing, MI hotel room where the entire film takes place. We see him pouring one beer down the drain as he drinks another, and decorating his room with them – making him look much worse off than he is. He’s soon joined by Jon Salter (Robert Sean Leonard), who we soon find out is his best friend from high school, and who is premiering a film at the Lansing Film Festival, which Vince has apparently come to support. Review...“Tape” is a film that shows that even greatness has limits. Based on a play written by Stephen Belber, who also penned the nearly word-for-word screenplay, the dialogue is just higher than realism, the performances just a bit over the top, the set nicely confining, and the directing very invasive. 0 - East Lansing Youth Film Festival Competition Winners
The Youth Film Competition, a statewide competition that engages and encourages Michigan’s youth to submit films for exhibit at the Festival. Students in grades 1 st through 12th conceptualize, create, and collaborate through the medium of film....Films are submitted to the Youth Film Competition by December 1. All films received are then judged by a diverse panel of judges. Films are rated alongside their peers in one of three grade categories, Elementary, Middle School and High School.
