Steve Smith has supported the MSU community...now MSU community has an opportunity to give back. The Steve Smith Pershing High MSU Scholarship for Academic Achievement was established after I felt the desire to recognize those who helped support me in achieving my goals: my family, friends, teachers, coaches and community. These people continue to inspire me and compel me to give back to my community. Michigan State University, this endowed scholarship fund benefits worthy and capable students enrolled at MSU from Detroit Pershing High School.

The mission of the ACLU of Michigan is to enforce the Bill of Rights and advance its principles. Through a variety of public education programs, our legislative program, based in Lansing, and our litigation program, supported almost entirely by volunteer attorneys, the ACLU is the premier civil rights organization in the country. The ACLU has earned widespread respect and love for its consistent defense of constitutionally based principles.

4 - City of Lansing H.O.P.E. Scholarship
The H.O.P.E. Scholarship Program is a crime prevention and education initiative in cooperation with the Lansing Police Department, Lansing Community College, Michigan State University, Lansing School District, and City of Lansing in cooperation with local businesses and private citizens. The H.O.P.E. Scholarship Program offers Lansing School District youth an opportunity for a college education and a brighter future. Students are initiated into the program as sixth graders. Students promise to finish high school in exchange for two free years of tuition at Lansing Community College. The students are chosen by their school, based on their ability to utilize the program.
