Oct, 29, 2007: Before this week's big game against U-M, the Michigan State Women's Gymnastics team will be selling inflatable spears for $2 each at various locations all over campus.

The inflatable spears were prompted by the video clip that is played on the scoreboard before the 3rd down play when the Spartans are on defense. The clip is from the movie "300" which shows a large group of Spartan warriors asked by their leader Leonidas, "Spartans, what is your profession?" In which the Spartan warriors raise their spears and chant "Aaaoou! Aaaoou! Aaaoou!" The cheer has caught on and each time the clip is played the crowd chants in unison with the Spartan warriors.

All of the profits will go to the team who is using the money for t-shirts and promotions for their 1year old student booster group. They also will use the funds for travel expenses so that the student booster group can travel to an away meet and the Big Ten Championships.
